Sanibel Shells Watercolor Painting

I recently finished a painting of some shells from my grandmother’s shell collection.  She was kind enough to lend me some of her best shells for a watercolor class.

I assembled a huge array of shells in my studio for a photo shoot, printed a few of the best shots, selected a small, diverse group of shells, photographed them, and then used those prints for my watercolor class.

Please enjoy the brief video of some of the photos I shot towards the end of the creative process:

Special thanks to Barbara Groenteman for her exceptional patience and guidance through the process.  And a sincere thanks, of course, to my grandmother for all her patience and guidance (throughout my life) and working with her shells.
